In 2010 they designed and built a spent shotgun cartridge line; capable of recycling over 1.6 billion cartridges per year, making Agri.Cycle the largest cartridge recycler in the UK. The Green Tractor Scheme was founded in 2020 by four agricultural plastic recycling specialists who all shared the same ambition to provide a standard to the UK agricultural industry, and the ability to recycle all agricultural plastics by 2030.

This is our story

Join us now and become a valued part of the future.
Built from a collective need to make a positive change, our founding members took a stand in 2020 after working within the agricultural waste management industry for years. The need for education to promote sustainability, recycling and awareness within the farming community prompted the establishment of the Green Tractor Scheme.

With the ambition to ensure all agricultural plastic waste is recycled by 2030, the founders set out with the knowledge of the solution to the problem being in: education surrounding separation and presentation of waste for the farmers, collaborating with and enabling recyclers to be more efficient and effective and lobbying government to force producers to remove unnecessary plastics from the supply chain.

With the target of 2030 in place, the Green Tractor Scheme is actively setting the standard and recruiting every agricultural business to be responsible and accountable for their own part to play in changing the environment and the industry for the better.

Dengie have a strong ethos in producing sustainable feeds and we continue to look into ways to develop their packaging to ensure it is as environmentally-friendly as possible. By building on trials with carbon-neutral packaging for their Hi-Fi Original product, they have now introduced recycled packaging across their whole range of feeds and bedding products. Dengie’s highly popular Hi-Fi Lite feed was the first in their range to appear in the new recycled packaging which contains as much recycled plastic as it is currently possible to use. It is all the more impressive as the Hi-Fi Lite packaging can still be recycled (LDPE 4) where facilities exist. By including recycled plastic in their packaging, Dengie are providing an outlet for used plastic. This is important in helping to manage plastic waste; an issue that has attracted huge interest over the last few years. Whilst many Dengie bags are re-used on the yard for other functions, it is comforting to know that when they do reach the end of their lifecycle they can be recycled and could ultimately end up in another Dengie bag! Dengie have now become an ambassador for The Green Tractor Scheme to further promote sustainability in agriculture and help further promote recycling in the agricultural sector. Green Tractor look forward to a great relationship with Dengie.
